TALid Sport and Development Program (TSD) is incorporated under the sporting arm of the Solid Rock Educational Trust. The Trust is a registered section 21 Company which is registered for Section 18A tax relief benefits. The Trust was established in 2000.
Since inception, TSD has directly impacted on learners in Primary and Secondary Schools as well as students and athletes who have finished their schooling. The project was embarked on to establish a vehicle for talent identification in South Africa through sport and education. TSD is a program that utilizes a system of multiple sport academies to identify talented youngsters for the sport en business sector. All the academies have professionally trained talent scouts, coaches, officials and administrators to provide skilled training programs.
The program will incorporate two levels. The first level will be focusing on grassroots development, talent identification and scientific testing. Identified athletes will be placed in schools of excellence where further development through specialized coaching and mentoring will prepare them for professional sport. The second level will include a High Performance Centre for Elite athletes. Athletes will be coached in and on all aspects of professional sport. A biokineticist, physiotherapist, doctor, psychologist and life coach are on the team to look after the athletes conditioning and mental health. All athletes either attend school or follow the Siyathembana SETA accredited course in sport administration and entrepreneurial studies. Many of these athletes have been identified at a young age and will become fully professional athletes. Some of our athletes have already represented South Africa at international level.
A need was identified to broaden our territory for talent identification through the incorporation of more sporting codes. This allows an opportunity for all children to be able to take part and have the opportunity to be exposed to a selection of sporting codes in their community. It was also very clear to the founders of TSD that a better alternative was needed for these children. An alternative that ensures that the youth are involved in a healthy pastime, that would take them off the streets, away from harmful influences, activities and enterprises, into a controlled environment.
To provide a better future for boys and girls from all cultures and
backgrounds in South-Africa through talent identification and upliftment so that we can send them out
as leaders and ambassadors in their families, communities and country.
To add value to South Africa’s next generation by implementing a business model which will provide students with an opportunity to receive professional education and training in all sports codes as well as business.
To establish a capable committee who will manage the business and entrepreneurial principles to ensure that the organization becomes self sufficient and adds value to its investors and sponsors.

Educators must have the potential to lead, encourage and guide students towards a renewed inner self so that a rock solid character is formed that will help each student achieve success at the highest level – either on the sporting field or in the boardroom.
